Born in Tavistock, Devon, Richard Gerald Phillips moved to Cape Town with his family at the age of five. Southern Africa became the landscape of his life and much of his writing.
His career in policing, security and cash logistics spanned more than four decades. That first-hand knowledge brings authenticity to his crime fiction, while years spent travelling with his late wife, Ann, inform the warmth and humour of his African stories.
Richard retired to North Wales in 2020, where he continues to write across crime fiction, true-life fiction and memoir.
