Illegal Tender

Planned with military precision, the robberies are carried off by an unknown criminal syndicate who take the reader on a roller-coaster ride across England, Europe and South America. The gang finally carries off a clever and professional robbery of a vaulted branch in the city of Slough, escaping with British pounds, US dollars, euros and a consignment of diamonds.

The responsibility for the criminal investigation lands with the Slough police. The CIO and his team pursue numerous leads, assisted by insurance investigator Samantha Kelly.

Sam is an attractive and wily insurance underwriter working for a Lloyd's syndicate in London. With the scale of the loss placing pressure on the syndicate, she decides that an extraordinary effort is needed. Her best chance of recovering the stolen goods lies in befriending a suspected insider.

The investigation brings considerable success, but not without Sam's dangerous and unorthodox pursuit of the ringleader. As events reach their climax, a final twist provides an unexpected ending.
